Xfinity Mobile Coverage: What Network Does Xfinity Mobile Use?
Xfinity Mobile is a small prepaid carrier, or MVNO, that offers reliable and low-cost service to current Xfinity Internet subscribers. Like other small prepaid carriers, or MVNOs, Xfinity Mobile makes use of a major carrier network to provide coverage to its customers—in this case, Verizon. Running on Verizon's powerful network means Xfinity Mobile customers get access to that carrier's same fast 4G and 5G coverage.
One caveat: To enjoy 5G speeds, you need a 5G-compatible phone.

Xfinity Mobile Coverage Map
Xfinity Mobile makes use of Verizon's coverage network to provide service to its customers. That means wherever there's Verizon coverage, there's Xfinity Mobile coverage. That's good news for Xfinity Mobile subscribers, since Verizon wields some of the fastest and most reliable 4G and 5G coverage around. Take a look at Verizon's—er, Xfinity Mobile's—national coverage below.
Xfinity Mobile 4G LTE Coverage
One look at the map above shows just how wide-reaching this Xfinity Mobile's 4G network is. Aside from a few isolated dead zones in the Western part of the country, a Xfinity Mobile 4G signal can be found just about everywhere.
Xfinity Mobile 5G Coverage
Xfinity Mobile’s 5G network is more limited in scope than its 4G network. While you’ll easily find a 5G signal throughout the East Coast, California, and upper Midwest, you may have more difficulty connecting to it in the Mountain West, Southwest, and Northwest.
Some of Xfinity Mobile’s 5G network is made up of Ultra Wideband 5G, which offers faster speeds, lower latency, and better reliability than standard 5G. Since Verizon is aggressively expanding its 5G reach—particularly its Ultra Wideband 5G network—Xfinity Mobile customers can expect better 5G coverage in the coming months and years.
How Does Verizon’s 5G Network Work?
Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network is made up of 5G towers and Small Cells. The towers provide the heavy lifting, pushing out coverage far and wide, while the Small Cells cover the in-between areas the towers can’t reach. Verizon’s network uses millimeter wave (mmWave) technology. mmWave technology is ultra-fast but doesn’t reach very far, which is why Verizon uses a combination of towers and Small Cells to reach as much of the U.S. as possible.
Verizon’s Network also uses something called a dynamic spectrum, which switches between 4G and 5G depending on what you’re trying to do. For example, if you watch an HD live stream or download a big file, 5G could be provided to give high resolution and strong download speeds.
By leasing Verizon’s network, Xfinity Mobile gives its customers high-class 4G and 5G services, the same coverage Verizon customers receive, but at a lower price. The only downside is that your data speeds may be slowed during high network traffic, as Verizon will – of course – prioritize its own customer traffic.
