US Mobile is a small carrier, or MVNO, that uses all three major carrier networks (Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile) to provide coverage to its subscribers.
US Mobile is unique in that it allows its users to select which coverage network they want their plan to run on—and allows them to switch between them a certain amount of times per month.
In this article, we’ll outline the US Mobile coverage map so you can choose the plan and network type that best suits your particular needs.
US Mobile has agreements with all three major carriers to run on their networks—but that doesn’t mean your US Mobile plan gives you access to Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile coverage simultaneously. Instead, US Mobile allows you to pick a specific network for your plan to run on, and whichever you choose locks you into that one. However, you can switch between network times a certain amount of times each month via the carrier’s “Teleportal” function.
Here’s which networks US Mobile’s Warp, Light Speed, and Dark Star monikers correspond to:
We advise choosing the network that offers the most coverage in your particular area. You can use our coverage maps below to zoom into your town or city to get a sense of how much service is offered there from each of US Mobile’s plans.
US Mobile’s Warp network gives you access to Verizon’s nationwide 4G and 5G spectrum. Verizon offers the second-most 4G coverage in the country (56%), and the third most 5G coverage (9%). Use the button on the top right to switch between 4G and 5G.
US Mobile’s Light Speed is code for T-Mobile’s national network. T-Mobile offers solid if slightly middling 4G coverage (43%) across the country, but far and away the most 5G coverage (36%).
US Mobile’s Dark Star branding corresponds to AT&T’s national cellular network. AT&T offers the most 4G coverage coast to coast (58%) and the second-most 5G (29%).
This chart below helps to further distinguish between the Warp, Light Speed, and Dark Star networks, as US Mobile calls them.
As the chart reflects, AT&T offers the best combined 4G and 5G coverage across the country, though T-Mobile is the clear frontrunner when it comes to 5G.
US Mobile offers a selection of both by-the-gig plans and unlimited plans. Going by-the-gig allows you to specify the amount of data you want to use each month (from 2GB up to 20GB) and pair it with unlimited talk and text.
Opting for one of US Mobile’s unlimited data offerings (Unlimited Starter or Unlimited Premium) gives you more functionality, including dedicated hotspot data to use each month. Here are some details:
The key advantage of going with US Mobile for your unlimited plan is price: while Unlimited Starter and Unlimited Premium lack some of the bells and whistles of major carrier plans, they are far cheaper.
